With India currently hosting FIFA Under-17 World Cup, the football fever has currently gripped the country, including our Royal Challengers Bangalore champ – Virat Kohli, who has challenged the sassy and stylish B-Town stars for a charity football match – Celebrity Clasico.
While cricket is his passion, Indian cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli is also an ardent fan of football and often indulges in the game. In fact, Virat Kohli’s foundation has joined hands with ‘Playing For Humanity’, a charitable trust spearheaded by Bollywood stars like Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, and several others, and every year a charity football match is played between cricket players and Bollywood celebrities.
Needless to say, RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who is also one of the owners of Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Goa, is leading the cricketers’ team – ‘All Hearts Football Club’ in the third edition of Celebrity Clasico.
In a brief video shared by Star Sports, the official broadcaster for the match, the young cricketing sensation is seen playfully challenging his Bollywood friends. “This time in Celebrity Clasico, my Bollywood friends will come to know that here stamina wins over style. And there are no re-takes in football,” Kohli said. He further urged his fans to watch the match as he said, “Keep yourselves free to watch the Celebrity Clasico where my team All Heart FC take on my Bollywood friends All Stars FC.”
Last year too, a team of cricketers, which included the likes of Mayank Dagar (goalkeeper), Manoj Tiwary, MS Dhoni, Manish Pandey, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ashok Dinda, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, R Ashwin played for Kohli’s team. While B-town denizens like Jignesh Antala (goalie), Aditya Kapoor, Shabir Ahluwalia, Ranbir Kapoor, Dino Morea, Shoojit Sircar, Kartik Aryan, Sachin Joshi, Arjun Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Raj Kundra played for ‘All Stars Football Club.’
The star-studded football match will take place at Mumbai’s Andheri Sports Complex on October 15.
